If you want to get a good idea of how much clearer photos are on a retina display, check out this post on Art Authority. They have some effective side-by-side shots showing the dramatic difference. Of course, given that their Art Authority app (on sale for $4.99) brings you works by over 1,000 of the world's greatest artists, they have been eager to upgrade their contents for the best possible experience on the retina display of the new iPad. Interestingly, they emailed me after reading my hands-on review of the new iPad and said that they had come to the same conclusion: that the amount of difference you notice between the old iPad and new depends a lot on how good your eyesight is.
