This short review of iPhone 3.0 in Barron's gives a bit of detail about some of the new features such as copy/paste and the ability to search all data. However, we won't really have a sense for the potential of this new version until seeing some of the new apps that take advantage of its features. According to the WSJ article mentioned in an earlier post, one of the most exciting is the fact that the new version will allow iPhones to communicate directly with other iPhones nearby — and multiplayer games are currently being developed. A shooting game called Live Fire will offer a choice of modes. Players will be able to use the iPhone's Internet connection to battle one another while communicating by voice, or they'll be able to use Bluetooth to play with gamers in their vicinity.
