While the whole world is abuzz with anticipation of the impending availibility of the new iPhone 5, there are still many of us patiently awaiting the announcement of Apple's next "surprise", the introduction of the iPad mini. UPDATED: Now including the latest images to surface as of this morning (9/18), showing what seems to be a fully functional iPad mini...
As was the case with the latest iPhone, the "leaked" images began turning up more and more often immediately prior to it's release, so too with the iPad mini. Just this morning the Chinese website BoloPad posted the above pictures of the new iDevice. While MacRumors speculates that these images are mockups and not the actual, functional device, I prefer to lean towards Cult Of Mac's assesement; that they are indeed pictures of a working model.
As COM points out, not only does the back shell in the preceeding images seem to be totally authentic, but in these latest images, you can see the reflection of the person taking the shot, indicating the presence of a reflective (most likely Gorilla Glass) screen, which hasn't been the case with many earlier images that have been floated around the blogosphere.
Furthermore, as evidence of the upcoming unveiling of the newest member to the iPad line-up, Endgadget brings us the report that Taiwan's Economic Daily News is running a front page story today, all about manufacturing company Pegatron, nabbing 50 - 60% of Apple's iPad mini production orders away from rival production company, Foxconn, who until now has maintained dominance as the largest provider of iPad assembly.
Each company is rumored to have begun pumping out as many as five million iPad minis a month now, in preparation for a suspected mid-October announcement.
Are you excited yet? I know you aren't if your name is Google or Amazon, but I sure am! Stay tuned to iPhone Life for more details of the new, mini iPad as they continue to surface.
