App News: Flipboard Update; Snoop Lion Launches App; The Walking Dead on Sale

New apps and updates are coming out all the time, and this week there are some especially exciting developments. The must-have social news app Flipboard received its most significant update ever, allowing users to create and share their own magazines. Rap/Reggae icon Snoop Lion launched his new app, Snoop Lion's Reincarnated. There's also big news for gamers — The Walking Dead is on sale!

1. Flipboard (Free)

The popular, award-winning news reader, Flipboard, has just received a major update that adds some awesome new features. With more than 50 million users, Flipboard is tapping into its deep social networking potential, allowing users to actually create “magazines,” which can be shared with the vast Flipboard community.

Now you can save articles you love by creating your magazines. You can then read the stories from the magazine at a later time, or share with friends and allow subscribers. You can also search for top magazines within the Flipboard community that you would like to follow. The user interface in Flipboard is a clever hybrid of skuemorphism and a sleek modern presentation, and the ability to create customized magazine folders is a most welcome update to this already stellar app.

2. The Walking Dead (Free)

I played the first episode of The Walking Dead all the way through and loved it! But I promised myself I wasn’t going to get all of The Walking Dead episodes until they went on sale, and now that they finally are (On sale from $4.99 to $2.99 a piece, or $9.99 for episodes 2-5) I suggest you take advantage of this deep discount while it lasts! The Walking Dead is arguably one of the best games on iOS, receiving multiple awards and extensive rave reviews. Don't hesitatate to download the entire series as this sale is only good through April 10th.

 The Walking Dead

This creeper puts you smack dab in the center of the Zombie apocalypse. You are one of the few survivors, for now. The decisions you make not only affect you in the moment, but also as the story progresses. I am not going to give anything away here for those who haven’t played it yet, but suffice to say if you like the AMC TV series or the comic book series, you will LOVE the game, which takes place on a parallel timeline with a whole new cast of characters.

 The Walking Dead

Why The Walking Dead game is one of the best and most interactive games out there:

* Vividly rendered comic book graphics;

* Multiple camera angles and engrossing story lines really make you feel present in this Armageddon;

* An eerie and creepy soundtrack that’s subtle and well timed;

* The ability to take a variety of paths, based on your choices. Will you be the “good person, or the “bad,” hero or coward, and when you find yourself faced with life and death situations, how do you play a hand in who lives, and who gets bit, or eaten?

3. Snoop Lion's Reincarnated: Track Notes App (Free)

 Snoop Lion Reincarnated

Snoop Dogg is recognized as one of the most notorious, popular, and prolific rappers ever. These days, however, he’s undergone a personal transformation as he has embraced the Rastafarian tradition. Now using his new moniker of Snoop Lion, given to him by Rastafari elders, he no longer uses sexually explicit and violent content, but rather a message of peace, love, and unity. Perhaps his outspoken love of the herb is the only thing remaining from the old Doggfather we knew.

Now, in conjunction with his first album as Snoop Lion, he's releasing the official iPad only interactive app. It’s a great accompaniment to the album with songs and videos from the album, making-of footage, liner notes, and information on his Mind Gardens organic community farming charity. Snoop Lion's Reincarnated is a great, full-featured app, and the perfect way to get a taste of the latest album from this rap superstar. The app promises to have more of the songs from the album available in a future update.
