Audiobooks For Your Kids is easy to carry, simple to use, safe for the kids, educational, and effective!

Looking for a way to keep your kids busy while traveling or waiting in the doctor’s office? You know, something entertaining enough to keep them busy, but also quiet? Audiobooks For Your Kids for the iPhone could be the answer.

Pros:

It’s simple to use: no downloading to computer and burning to a CD. The tracks are in the right order, so you don’t have to worry about that either. Simply choose a story, hit download, and play. You can search by age (0-4, 5-7, 8-10, over 10), genre (fairy tail/fable, adventure, non-fiction, history), title, and author. And, you can bookmark where you left off to make it easy to find your place when you come back. The app is only $ .99 and the content is free!

It’s easy to carry – no more lost library books!

It’s safe – you don’t have to worry about your kids choosing an adult book! You know at a glance what they’re going to be reading.

It’s educational – it’s a known-fact that kids who read, do better in school. And, reading the classics will increase your child’s vocabulary big time! The content comes from the Librivox children’s catalog of quality classics that everyone should read at least once in their lives.

It’s effective – the stories are entertaining. Your kids will hear stories about animals, adventures, holidays, and faraway places; stories that will interest both boys and girls of all ages.

Cons:

I had trouble getting the stories to stream. If I lose bars, the story stops. I never could open several of the stories. Even with full bars on my phone, I kept getting connection errors: “Your connection might be slow or off. Wait a few seconds and try again.” Trust me, your kids won’t wait!

There are currently only 30 stories.

Bottom Line:

If the developers make the app download the files to the iPhone so kids can listen without Internet connection and add more titles, I would give it 5-stars. As it is, I give it 4. It's a great idea. This is a good start, but it needs work.
