In this review I take a look at the Voi! case by Lorem for the iPhone 3G/3Gs ($24.95, and an additional $5.95 if you want the screen protector) let me tell you, it is a great product!
One warning, my wife said it "looks feminine" – well if that’s the case pass me the lipstick and Mary Janes. I’m not certain if she’s of the same opinion about Wii paddles which have a similar lanyard, but from my perspective the case and lanyard combo and fact that Voi is made of the same material the iPhone 3G/3Gs is made out of makes this one tough and good looking cookie. Here's another reason I like this case, if you have any notions of letting kids use your iPhone or you plan on doing a lot of photography or videography (the lanyard actually helps to stabilize the camera by locking your wrist) a hard
case is a must.
The case locks real tight around your iPhone and looks good in the process, if you watch my video you'll see I was shaking this thing quite vigorously to see just how far I could push it. If you wear the lanyard it indeed can help prevent dropping your phone. But if it does happen to drop the hard case will help to protect your iPhone.
Now for some really good news! When I reviewed the case I got a spare one (black) which I will give away to one lucky iPhone Life reader. This will be in conjunction with another give away for two free codes to download the Lucky Day! App which you can read about here.
How do you win? Just write a brief but compelling story in the comments section below of how you have or will help animals in need. Obviously this is about generating good karma, so keep it honest and keep it polite.
The winners will be determined by me and all decisions are final. For readers who don't win, there's still good karma in it for you!
Voi! case
I like the idea, but when I drop my case, it's usually as I'm getting it out or putting it away. How about a longer lanyard and a clip that hooks to your belt loop or purse?
I was thinking the same thing
I was thinking the same thing Cindy (actually you can take the lanyard off since it just loops around itself on a little bar built into the case), and put on a much longer lanyard like the one's which often come with USB sticks which you can hang around your neck. Or for that matter one of those lanyards on a coil spring like you'd attach a pocket knife to. There's a lot of possibilities due to how the lanyard attaches.
John, I didn't know whether
John, I didn't know whether or not you still had the contest going, but I just wanted to let you know that I had adopted a dog from the SPCA (which was really hard - mind you - since there were so many of them and I felt like adopting all of them). I've had dogs before, but they were puppies, so they were easier to handle. It was only a few days with the new dog and I was wondering if I had done the right thing. Poor thing was scared of getting into cars, taking a bath, and marking everything in sight. I'm only 5'1" and he was a 100 lb, 3' tall Akita. And I just wanted to say to whoever is reading this that adopting dogs are totally worth it. They help you build up PATIENCE! It's amazing how when you own a pet, you start realizing that they do display human-like characteristics with their amazingly large range of emotions. The feeling is really indescribable when you adopt from a shelter.
Anyways, those were my two cents about the matter. Have a good one!
You're got a Voi case on the
You've got a Voi case on the way to you! Nice e-mail with you earlier and this is exactly the type of thing that's great to hear about.
When I adopted Martha from the rescue group that got her away from a terrible puppy mill, it was a lot of work at first to coax her out of her crate and personality shell - she'd just been a puppy making machine. It was rough, we thought she'd never willingly leave her crate, but day by day she's becoming more like a dog and less like an object. She is out of the crate and relearning what it means to be a dog, running around the house with Spaulding, our other dog. It's nice to know that there are others out there who have the compassion and strength it takes to adopt an animal who's lived through some pretty bad times. They don't ask for much from us, but they sure don't take long to start giving back more than what they take.
Good work, and congratulations.
Got it!
John, the case arrived today and is looking mighty fine and sturdy! I took it for a spin when I was walking my dogs to the duck pond, and it was a great feeling to not worry about not dropping my phone while doing this weird thing with my hand to get it in landscape mode while using my forefinger to take pictures. I tried taking more doggie pics, but could only get my aussie to sit still for 3 seconds before she tried to go smell the ducks and pull the other along. :P
Martha looks so sweet, and I love Franz Kafka's quote on Martha's blog. Dogs are wise and know how to give comfort when needed. I'm just glad that dogs adopted by good families will also return that much needed comfort back to them. :)
Again, thank you sooo much!
Sincerely,
MsFluffy
