After my frustrated online ordering experience of yesterday (shared by Tracy and Hal, among others I'm sure) I decided to give it another try. Too late. Out of luck. Sales are now suspended.
So I guess it gives me a few more weeks to decide whether I really need all those new features, or if I just keep the trusty old iPhone I know and love and spend the money on an iPad.
It's sort of like deciding whether to get a new car, when your old reliable is reaching 125,000 miles old and there are plenty of shiny new vehicles clogging the car lots.
In the meantime, any word on the total cost of the iPhone 4, if you already have a contract with AT&T and are eligible for an upgrade for $18? How much am I going to have to pony up for the hardware?

iPhone 4 Cost
I ordered mine in the Nick of time from apple, 16g...they charged me a total of 251$ including tax
Good job!
Sounds like you're pretty happy with the price, right? As for me, I think I'll stick with this old jalopy for a few more months -- unless I read something in an iPhoneLife.com blog that just blows my mind and makes the new machine a must-have. Let us know how you like it (sometime after June 24th...).
iPhone 4 delivery after July 2nd?
Just read a blog entry on mobilemarketingwatch.com that guesses most folks won't get their pre-ordered iPhone 4 before the 4th of July.
This has to be one of the most popular products ever sold online. Steve Jobs is undeniably one of the greatest marketers in history...
Price of 32 GB and one other concern
Timothy, I ordered my 32gb phone yesterday, June 15th at 3:30pm and Apple still claims mine will be delivered on June 24th. That was after trying to order my phone at 1am in the morning when the Apple Store started selling them. They charged me $299.00 plus estimated taxes of $62.16, for a grand total of $360.16. Now, I have one major concern, if AT&T had problems checking our accounts as we ordered new phones, what's going to happen when the estimated 600,000 new iphones try to access AT&T network within a few hours? Is this going to be like the ordering, waiting for phones to log onto an already loaded system?
Well it turns out, to my
Well it turns out, to my surprise I ordered 2 phones. Apparently, one of my requests that showed a time-out actually went through. Turns out that is not a problem, and we'll be able to test Facetime in-house. (However, there may be a struggle in-house to get the 2nd phone<g>)
It might be iPhone overload...
Rick - you make a great point about the expected traffic on 6/24 (assuming the distribution works without a hitch). And that will be on top of the other 30 million iPhones already in use. I might just go play golf that day and leave my iPhone at home.
Thanks for the info on pricing. I thought it was interesting that the only dollar figure mentioned was an $18 upgrade fee. That price sounds similar to the original (and subsidized-by-AT&T) price we paid during the initial launch.
Enjoy your phone, and report back on your delivery experience...
Tim
Two iPhone 4s for the price of ... 2?
I'm sure you won't have a problem getting rid of that duplicate, Hal. It will be interesting to see if you use the Facetime feature for face-to-face calls -- from within the same office. Let us know how it goes...
