You Will 'Luv' a Bluetooth Speaker That's More Than a Speaker

I was disappointed that the new iPhone 5s didn't include NFC (Near Field Communication) for several reasons. First, it would be nice to have a feature that a number of a Android devices do, and second because it would be nice to pay for things with a swipe of my phone. But also I could try out the new Mo' Beats HD speaker from iLuv ($99.99).

Fortunately, the Mo' Beats HD also offers Bluetooth connectivity so I was able to pair it with my iOS devices. I just couldn't leverage the NFC feature, to pair simply by touch. Still. Bluetooth is pretty easy to setup and I was listening to music in no time.

The Mo' Beats HD does more than music, though. It can be a nice video viewing station. There is a built in flip-up viewing stand on the top that accommodates just about any tablet or mobile phone, in landscape or portrait mode. You can also connect any audio source using the auxiliary port. For the high quality sound and the significant size of the unit, I was surprised to see it was rechargeable instead of requiring a permanent connection to AC power. I guess you really can take the party with you!

My only caveat, aside from Apple not offering NFC yet, is the odd name. iLuv Mo' Beats HD doesn't flow off the tongue, and it does seem to be trading on the popular Beats by Dr Dre headphones, but I can look past that. For now, I'll just call it "the Mo!"
