PODSTA because your iPhone just wants to be held

Ah the life of a reviewer.  Two products arrived today, one in a plain brown paper wrapped box and the other in a cute, rainbow colored cylinder.  Guess which one got opened first? PODSTA makes a cute product worthy of their packaging, and lighthearted web presence.  They even sell t-shirts with their tagline (HOLD ME).

So what does PODSTA do? It's a soft-touch, hard-foam stand for your iPhone or iPod touch (all generations), allowing you to watch videos or conduct FaceTime calls hands-free, in portrait or landscape orientation.  The market for such gadgets is a bit crowded so in addition to creating a solid product, PODSTA has really embraced the marketing aspect.  PODSTA would be right at home in an Apple Store.  PODSTA comes from the UK but the name, font and rainbow colors of their logo really bring out the PODSTA's inner IKEA.  On the other hand, the name could just as easily be "Boston" for Podster!

Speaking of colors, PODSTA is available in assorted colors.  Interestingly, they refer to the colors by standard names but I think Green should be "Sea Foam" and Blue is more like "Cyan".  But I've been looking at paint swatches too much lately so maybe it's just me.

PODSTA notes that you should only use the AC charger if the device is used in landscape mode, which is good advice as the cable might get bent or dislodged in portrait mode.  At £14.95 plus £2.50 shipping, the PODSTA is not cheap, but it sure is cute.  UPDATE: Still cute and now cheaper!  The new price is just £9.95 + £2.00 shipping within USA & Europe!  The PODSTA makes a nice stocking stuffer but hurry because it ships from the U.K. unless you find it locally.  Just don't go to IKEA by mistake.
