Case-Mate comes through with wide variety of iPhone 5 cases

I wouldn't what to be an iPhone case company. Given Apple's secrecy, they have to design and deliver new cases in rapid fashion. Fortunately, Case-Mate has been able to revamp their extensive assortment of iPhone cases to accommodate the new design of the iPhone 5.

I got the chance to try their Creatures and Glam products on my new iPhone 5 and I was pleasantly surprised. At first, I was skeptical of the Glam line. From the pictures on the website, I was worried that it would be a girly-girl style that might betray the manly-man style I try to project! But the silver sparkled case actually looks quite 'rich' and prestigious! And I was pleased that the sparkles are embedded behind a clear coat, so they won't flake off.

The design is two piece, with a bumper style that attaches to a backplate. Available in multiple colors, you could mix and match bumpers for a complete custom look. The backplate has a nice rubber layer to protect the aluminum back, which is prone to scuffing. Despite the case, the enclosed iPhone 5 isn't any thicker than my iPhone 5, so I don't mind keeping it in a case.

I also got to try their Panda case, which is adorable. It's an all silicon model, with a nice grip able texture. The tiny ears on top act as extra cushions in the event of a fall.

To prevent a fall in the first place, there is a tiny keyring in the bottom corner. You could use it to attach a lanyard, similar to the new iPod touch.

All of the Case-Mate cases I tried have a lip that extends past the glass screen, so you can place it face down and the screen doesn't touch the surface. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other Case-Mate models but given the selection, I could be using a different case every day for a month!
