With the holidays just passing and with more of them approaching us, there is nothing like knowing about history. I say this because getting in touch with the history of our country is refreshing! The best application for this is called Today in History.
Today in History is a great application that will help you get in touch with events, births, deaths and holidays that happened on that specific day that you use the app.
To completely use the app, tap the icon on your iPhone. When the app opens, that current day and all events from previous years will show up. You can click on the little blurb that is given about an event and more information and external links will pop up. Not only this, but more events for that specific year will pop up.
The external links are to things that are relatable and ideas that are basically tagged from the event itself. The user can also add a comment about the event in the window as well. There is also the option to refresh, comment, add to favorites, and then there is one tab for “more.” When tapping the more tab, you are able to e-mail, tweet, Facebook, text message or copy the event to share it.
Going back to the main screen, there is a timeline on the side. If the user wants something from a certain time period, they can scroll through and find the year they are looking for.
On the main screen the other options are births, deaths, holidays and the more tab. The more tab shows your favorites, search, account, people, my events, settings about. Each subdivision of the more tab the user is able to add their own information to make the app personalized to them.
The births, deaths, and holidays are all the same as the events and navigation is the exact same as well.
The holidays are a time for us to learn about our country’s history. This is a great application to get you caught up so you can share a little bit of something at this years dinner table!
