Video Review: Proporta Cable Tidy

Tue, 03/16/2010 - 01:31

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: It’s such a handy accessory! The cable tidies are small, lightweight, easy to use, and great whether your on the go or just someone who likes their things organized and tidy. It’s so useful.
Cons: They don’t provide any color options to choose from, so if the black and orange color combo isn’t your thing…you’re outta luck.
Overall: I really love them. I can already envision so many other simple uses for them besides tidying my cables. I say these little accessories are a must have! Check them out.

You can purchase the Cable Tidy Pack from Proporta.com for around $7.50

App Review: Custom Hangman

Tue, 03/16/2010 - 00:46

Rating: 6 out of 10
Pros: Great remake of the classic game we all know. It has tons of categories to choose from and even options to create and customize your our “lists”. My favorite feature was the definitions or interesting facts that pop up after solving/skipping each word.
Cons: The graphics and user interface although simple and easy to use seems very elementary.
Overall: I found this app to be one of those games that everyone can enjoy young and old.

You can check out Custom Hangman in iTunes for $.99.  Click here to be brought to the app store page.

Video Review: SaFPWR XR Battery Case

Mon, 03/15/2010 - 01:37

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Very nice quality case, available in a large variety of colors and in vertical or horizontal style, intelligent charging
Cons: A little pricey.
Overall: This is a really nice battery case, the quality is outstanding and they’re sure to have a style that suits your needs. It does add a bit of bulk to your iPhone, but that’s the price you’ll have to pay for having a backup battery being built-in. Definitely check out the XR from SaFPWR if you’re in the market for a backup battery case.

You can purchase this product directly from SaFPWR starting at $99.

Video Review: Power A IR Remote Control Case

Mon, 03/15/2010 - 01:05

Rating: 6 out of 10
Pros: Nice case which can be used at home and on the go with switchable bottoms.
Cons: Does not work with all cable box’s. App is also quite buggy and needs some fixing. Must have iPhone upside down to use this product.
Overall: A Great idea for integrating your iPhone and TV. However, this product fell short in a few points, mainly because it was not fully supported by all TVs and cable boxes. Also there’s no way to manually program the app.

The PowerA Remote Control Case can be purchased at the PowerA.com for $ 59.99

Jailbroken App Review: GrooveShark

Mon, 03/15/2010 - 00:55

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Fantastic application that brings almost the same experience from the web directly to your iPhone.
Cons: Unfortunately the app requires being jailbroken. Also, the search functionality isn’t quite as complete as the web app. When searching, not all the same results populate as they do online. Requires a subscription.
Overall: This is a great application that allows the most avid user to carry around an infinite amount of music.  The application in my test streams were almost as good on EDGE as it was on WiFi. For those of you who are jailbroken and on T-Mobile this is a huge plus.

Take a listen to GrooveShark online. Then check out the app on Cydia.

Video Review: Pogoplug – Your Personal Cloud

Mon, 03/15/2010 - 00:51

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Enables individuals the ability to create their own personal cloud for computing, virtually limitless capacity, have access and share desired files anywhere you can access the internet, FREE App in the app store, works with pc or mac.
Cons: If you choose to have the desktop software automatically “pull in” your digital media it will not keep iPhoto Events intact.  The pogoplug simply pulls in all your photos.
Overall: The Pogoplug is an ingenious product that gives virtually anyone the ability to create their own informational cloud.  Your information is not stored on the internet instead it gives you access your connected USB device.  Share files, give trusted people access to download and/or upload files from anywhere, anytime you have an internet connection.

Video Review: Just-Mobile Xtand Go

Fri, 03/12/2010 - 02:08

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Very versatile, includes a built-in Allen Wrench, .
Cons: It would be nice if the holder could work with an iPhone in a case.
Overall: I really liked this car mount. It was very flexible and easy to find a good sweet spot for positioning the iPhone. I also liked how it includes extra mount discs in case you want to secure it to your dash or place on your iPhone case. The only thing I would like to see added is maybe an adjustable mount to use it with your iPhone while it’s in a case. I think most people, including myself, probably won’t want to stick the mount disc on the back of  their case. I liked this product so much that I decided to award it our Editors’ Choice Award.

You can purchase this product from MyGearStore.com for $39.95. If you use our promo code “BuyMeAniPhone” you can receive 10% off.

Video Review: Sony Handycam HDR-CX520V

Fri, 03/12/2010 - 00:19

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: Records excellent quality video, 12MP still camera built-in, GPS tagging, 64 GB of built in memory.
Cons: The manual focus scroll wheel is not very user friendly, no viewfinder.
Overall: This is an excellent camcorder. I wish it included a mic input, but I’ll settle for the accessory shoe which can be used with microphones, lights and even a Sony bluetooth wireless mic. This camcorder is not cheap, but I feel it’s worth every penny with the quality of video it shoots, and the small form factor.

You can purchase this product from 42nd Street Photo for the current price of $899.

Video Review : dualLink by Cablejive

Thu, 03/11/2010 - 23:54

Rating: 8 out of 10
Pros: Charge and sync two iPhones or iPods at once, very durable cable and USB hub.
Cons: Cable is only 9 inches long, it’s a bit on the expensive side.
Overall: The duaLink by Cablejive is a fantastic solution for families who need to sync and charge more than one iPhone or iPod to the same USB port on your computer at once.  The only two things that make me a bit hesitant on this is the short length and the $25.95 price tag.

The duaLink from Cablejive can be purchased from their website fro $25.95 and while your there check out all their other offerings.

Video Review: Trexta Merli Case

Thu, 03/11/2010 - 09:21

Rating: 6 out of 10
Pros: Tackified spots on the back of the case provides extra grip and good feel in your hand.  Reasonably priced at $19.95
Cons: Case form & shape is far from perfect.
Overall: The concept is very unique with the incorporation of the lanyard & hook.  I would have given the  Trexta Merli a higher rating if the case had a more consistent form factor.

You can purchase this case at MyGearStore.com for $19.95

Video Review: Tech21 iBand + Cases

Wed, 03/10/2010 - 12:07

Rating: 8.5 out of 10
Pros: Awesome new technology, very shock resistant, ultra slim fit.
Cons: not much lay on the table design, entire back open to geting scratched
Overall: I love this case, very minimal design and is very shock absorbant. I’d like to see more protection on the back and a thicker front lip for lay on table. The new design with the cut outs makes this case one of my top 5 favorites right now, not much bulk and cool technology.

You can see more of this case at the tech21 website here.

Pros: It’s the ultimate text lingo dictionary! The app offers a very easy to use & great looking user interface. It has countless abbreviation definitions. Definitely enhances your texting experience. Plus you can share any term you like through Facebook, email or Twitter.
Cons: Would love to see the ABC index on the side like you see in your “contacts” application for an easier browsing experience.
Overall: The OMG Texting Dictionary is a great, simple, and fun to use application that will both entertain & educate! Check it out!

App Review: Weather Machine

Tue, 03/09/2010 - 02:41

Rating: 9 out of 10
Pros: lots of information other than the temperature, ability to pinpoint using GPS and auto locate for weather, cool weather alerts
Cons: A little redundant with 3 places to see the 5 day forecast, so much information it can be over whealming
Overall: This app is a perfect replacement from the stock generic weather app, ability to see weather maps, alerts, hourly and weekly forecasts.  Nice graphics to round it out and I love the rotate feature to graphical maps.  The $3.99 is a little high, but for all the features you get it’s not too overpriced.

If you are interested in purchasing Weather Machine for $3.99 click here to be brought to the iTunes page.
